Adjunct Professor at Carleton University
Prof. Kevin Thomson is an Adjunct Professor at Carleton University, the Program Leader for Measurement Science for Emerging Technologies, and the Team Leader for Black Carbon Metrology at NRC/Measurement Science and Standards. An active researcher in the field of nanoparticle diagnostics and BC emissions measurements, specializing in optical/spectral measurement of particulate emissions from various combustion sources — including high pressure flames, flares, and engine exhausts — he has over 50 refereed journal and conference publications as well as numerous conference presentations on the topic of BC formation, concentration, and morphology measurements. Prof. Thomson most recently worked on the development of an international emission certification standard for civil aviation aircraft engines and is supporting the International Maritime Organization with the quantification of BC emissions from marine engines.
