Senior Gas Specialist at The World Bank, Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) Partnership
Harshit Agrawal is a Senior Gas Specialist at the World Bank leading the technical program for Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) Partnership, based in Washington DC. In Dr. Agrawal’s current role of managing technical aspects of the flaring reduction program of GGFR includes supporting gas flaring monetization program in several countries including Egypt, Oman, Mexico, Malaysia and Kazakhstan. Harshit also manages the annual global gas flaring satellite data gathering and dissemination for the GGFR partnership.
In his previous role at the Shell Oil Company, Harshit led the transformation and monetization of more than 60 flared gas sites in Oman into utilization and capture and developed a first-of-kind non-routine flaring management and decision-making framework. Harshit also held the position of chairperson of a flaring working group at the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA) leading a multidisciplinary team from various oil and gas companies globally to develop a flaring management guideline.
Harshit holds a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Riverside; a Bachelor’s in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology; and a Bachelor’s in Law from Oriental University. Dr. Agrawal brings his strong technical background and experience working with diverse international stakeholders including global regulatory bodies and oil and gas companies on the issue of flaring reduction to the FlareNet Board.
