Melina Jefferson
M.Sc. Candidate, 2017
FlareNet HQP: July 2016 - January 2017
Current Status: Research Engineer, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)
Thesis Topic: Theme 1, Flowback Flare Emissions
Melina graduated from Carleton University’s Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering program in 2014 and continued her environmental education researching flare emissions with Dr. Matthew Johnson. Her experiments at the Energy and Emissions Research Lab include work with NOx emissions from flare though the main body of her thesis is the base for Theme 1, flowback flare emissions. Utilizing a specialized aerosol injection burner, Melina conducts flare tests with water, salt water, and acid solutions to determine any alterations in flare behavior.
